Liquid Penetration Test (LPT)

Liquid penetration testing (LPI) is widely used as a low-cost inspection method to identify surface defects in all non-ferrous and ferrous materials; Although for iron parts, magnetic particle testing is often used. LPI is used to identify surface defects in castings, forgings and welds such as hairline cracks, surface porosity, leakage in new products and fatigue cracks in in-service parts. We offer on-site liquid penetrant inspection services using contrast or fluorescence penetrants for sensitive inspections. To detect surface cracks in non-magnetic materials, we use both color contrast penetrant and fluorescence for sensitive inspection.

Applications: • It is used to inspect metals to identify surface defects. • Weld discontinuities that are open to the surface, such as cracks, porosity, and seams.Advantages: • It can be used on various types of materials: ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys, fired ceramics, powdered metal products, glass and some types of organic materials. • Portable and relatively inexpensive equipment • Fast and immediate inspection results • Results are easily interpretable • Requires electrical energy only for the light source • Indications can be visually further investigated • Can be used in volumetric processes that allow 100% surface inspection
